How did input on HoloLens get to where it is now, what have we learned about it, and where are we going next? I will be sharing stories about input on HoloLens – prototypes we built, and lessons we learned. Along the way I will share my experience of taking a research idea that nobody thought would work, and shipping it.
Julia Schwarz is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft, where she is the technical lead for input and interaction on HoloLens. She shipped two handed manipulation on HoloLens as well as several other improvements to input for AR and VR. She also contributes her research back to the community as a contributor to HoloToolkit and Mixed Reality Toolkit. Julia is a UW CSE alumnus (class of 2009), and has a PhD from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science.
