HCI & Design at the University of Washington will again have a large and quality presence at CHI 2023, the flagship annual conference for research and practice across all areas of HCI & Design. University of Washington authors contributed to 62 papers that are to be presented at CHI 2023, including 3 selected for Best Paper Award recognition (selected as top 1% of submissions) and 9 selected for Best Paper Honorable Mention recognition (selected as top 5% of submissions).
This presence draws upon 7 different University of Washington programs. As in all aspects of DUB, interdisciplinary perspectives are the key to great research. Congratulations to all of these authors, and to our outstanding colleagues and collaborators from industry and universities around the world.
We are happy to also celebrate SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Awards for University of Washington PhD graduates Dhruv Jain (now at the University of Michigan) and Kai Lukoff (now at Santa Clara University). And we look forward to joining celebrations for Megan Hofmann (SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award, now at Northeastern University, graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, honorary DUB PhD graduate), for Nicola Dell (SIGCHI Societal Impact Award, now at Cornell Tech, University of Washington PhD graduate), and for Hrvoje Benko (SIGCHI Academy, at Meta, University of Washington Affiliate Professor).

As we head to CHI 2023, we look forward to connecting around this research!
