The first week of each quarter focuses on communication and networking within the DUB community. Instead of a seminar speaker, we hold a DUB faculty meeting and coordinate student small group lunches.
1) DUB Faculty Meeting
Our DUB faculty meeting is held during the normal DUB time (i.e., at 12:00) in CSE 691 (i.e., Gates Commons). Lunch is provided. When there are clear agenda items, those will be advertised on the dub-faculty mailing list.
2) Student Group Lunches
The heart of the DUB community is our diversity of perspectives, bringing together people and ideas that might otherwise be hidden in our units. We have created a speadsheet to help you find a group for lunch, and to coordinate reimbursement.
We do small group lunches like this:
Have lunch in a group of 4 DUB people who all add something different (e.g., different departments, different research advisors, different disciplinary background, different years in their program). You decide what brings different perspectives to your DUB lunch.
Tweet your lunch @uwdub, including a group selfie and telling us what DUB means to you. This is our advertising budget, so the tweet is required for reimbursement.
Keep your receipt. We will reimburse up to $50 for your group of 4. For reimbursement sanity, we will coordinate with the first person listed in each group.
