The DUB Faculty Meeting and DUB Small Group Mixers focus on lightweight communication and networking within the DUB community.
Mixers for September 30, 2020 are being organized in this document:
As our community is currently distributed, mixers are intended to be lightweight and grassroot opportunities for staying connected. Any member of the DUB community can and should host a mixer, and we have created the above spreadsheet to help people coordinate.
We expect mixers to require little or no advance preparation. Participants may declare a topic of interest for a mixer, or they may decide to just connect and socialize. Talk about living and working remotely, talking about classes or research, or even play a game. We encourage the community to use this time and space however will be most helpful in community-building and in managing all of our needs. People have also found success in uses these times for lightweight organization, advertising a conversation that people can then carry forward through additional activities.
As you decide whether to join an existing mixer group or start a new mixer group, be mindful of the virtual format and how many people can effectively participate in a given mixer. This will vary according to the plan for any mixer, so use your best judgment.
