UbiGreen
Encouraging environmental stewardship
By using activity inference to display transportation activity information on the background of an individual's mobile phone, UbiGreen gives people an ambient awareness of their weekly transportation usage and how much CO2 they have saved for the week. UbiGreen makes people more aware of their transportation patterns and gives them positive feedback when these patterns have less impact on the environment (e.g., walking, biking, or taking public transit). UbiGreen can help people make personal changes that can improve our global environment.
The tree grows leaves and blossoms as the user engages in green transportation activities over the week. UbiGreen also highlights icons at the bottom of the screen representing values related to the green activity. In this case, saving money and getting exercise are side effects of walking.
