Human Centered Design & Engineering
Jennifer Turns received her PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and her M.S. and B.S. degrees in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. Prior to her faculty position in Technical Communication, Jennifer was a Research Scientist with the Program for Educational Transformation through Technology at the UW, an NSF-funded Postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Engineering Learning and Teaching at the UW, and a consultant with Andersen Consulting. Her interests include the cognition of design with particular emphasis on user-centered and learner-centered design, human-computer interaction, engineering education, educational uses of information technology, educating reflective practitioners, and technology adoption.
