Jan Spyridakis is a Professor in Technical Communication at the University of Washington, specializing in information design and assessment. Her current research interests include remote user testing, Internet-based experimental methods and tools; assessment of the effect of information design variables; and international communication. Her Internet-based research focuses on how design features of online information (e.g., Web sites) affect users' behavior, comprehension, and perceptions. Her research group has also been developing a tool to support the conduct of remote user testing: WebLabUX, a software package that allows researchers and Web site stakeholders to measure user behavior and performance on an instrumented Web site as well as test various designs. Dr. Spyridakis has been honored by receiving seven awards for her research and five for her pedagogy. She is a Fellow in the Society for Technical Communication
