Andrew Davidson is a designer, technologist, and educator specializing in human-centered interactive systems. Over the last 25 years, Davidson has developed, managed, and communicated about innovative technology projects ranging from ground-breaking computer graphics for motion pictures (The Last Starfighter) to early interactive multimedia and interactive television applications (Philips Interactive Media), including interactive music projects with artists Peter Gabriel and Todd Rundgren. Currently he is developing physical computing applications, using open-source electronics and software prototyping platforms to create interactive objects and environments. Davidson has taught and overseen leading international research-oriented design technology programs (Art Center College of Design, Interaction Design Institute Ivrea), and is currently Affiliate Assistant Professor in the University of Washington’s interaction design program. He holds degrees in mathematics (BA, University of Rochester) and computer science (MSE, University of Pennsylvania). In his spare time, he is often found on a bicycle or in a kitchen, although not usually at the same time.
